Strašidla! It was a night full of fright at the Czech Embassy as its staff and actors from the Alliance for New Music-Theater made Czech legends and mythical creatures come alive! In a never before held event, children went on a spooky walk in the Embassy’s haunted forest and over an enchanted meadow by water, where the live creatures awaited in their natural surroundings. The creatures spooked the passerbys with their screams, shrieks, and cries.
Before they braved the walk, the children were first told the legends, origins and explanations behind these most notorious, intriguing, and a few lovable sprites, spirits, and ghosts:
Bogeyman (Bubák), Devil (Čert), Dragon (Drak), Forest Demon (Hejkal), Old Hag (Ježibaba), Will-o'-the-wisp (Bludičky), Water Sprite (Rusalka), Water Goblin (Vodník), White Lady (Bílá paní), Melusine (Meluzína), and the Noonday Witch (Polednice).
The children all agreed that the Hejkal, Ježibaba, the White Lady, and the Polednice were the scariest of all the creatures!
